Rabby Wallet not working: find your fix
Most Rabby problems come from another wallet extension taking over dapps, a hardware wallet that is locked or busy in another app, a stuck pending transaction, or an outdated extension. Find your symptom in the table below, try the quick checks first, and never give your seed phrase to anyone offering help.
Quick steps
- Confirm it is the real Rabby. Check that the extension ID is acmacodkjbdgmoleebolmdjonilkdbch. If it is not, remove it and read our fake Rabby guide.
- Update and restart. Update the extension from your browser's extensions page, then restart the browser.
- Unlock and refresh. Unlock Rabby with your password, then close and reopen the dapp tab.
- Rule out other wallets. Temporarily disable MetaMask, Phantom and other wallet extensions, and check Brave's default wallet setting if you use Brave.
- Open the matching guide. Use the symptom table to open the detailed fix for Ledger, dapp detection, stuck transactions or a forgotten password.
- Back up before reinstalling. Only reinstall Rabby after you have confirmed you hold the seed phrase or private keys for every address.
Rabby is a browser extension (plus mobile apps for iOS and Android), so most problems sit in one of four places: the browser, another wallet extension, a hardware wallet, or the network. This page sorts the common symptoms into causes and fixes, and links to a detailed guide for each.
Before anything else: two safety checks
- Make sure it is the real Rabby. Fake Rabby extensions and sites are common and often outrank the real one in search. The official Chrome Web Store extension ID is
acmacodkjbdgmoleebolmdjonilkdbch. Check yours with our extension verifier. If it does not match, stop and read fake Rabby wallet scams. - Nobody legitimate needs your seed phrase. Rabby never asks for it, and Rabby support never sends the first message. "Support agents" who DM you after you post about a problem are scammers.
Symptom, cause, fix
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A dapp opens MetaMask instead of Rabby | MetaMask (or another wallet) is the active injected wallet | Switch Rabby back to default wallet and refresh. See Rabby not showing in a dapp |
| Rabby is missing from a dapp's wallet list | Brave Wallet or another extension holds the connection, or the dapp only shows a MetaMask button | Change Brave's default wallet setting, or use Rabby's MetaMask Mode. See Rabby not showing in a dapp |
| Ledger not found, or signing fails | Device locked, Ethereum app closed, Ledger's own app holding the USB connection, missing browser permission | Rabby Ledger not connecting |
| GridPlus, BitBox02, Trezor or another device not connecting | Device-specific bridge or permission problem | Hardware wallet fixes and Rabby hardware wallets |
| Transaction shows "Pending" for a long time | Gas price too low, or an earlier transaction is blocking the queue | Speed up or cancel a stuck transaction |
| Forgot the password | The password only unlocks this copy of the wallet and cannot be recovered | Reset and restore from the seed phrase. See Rabby forgot password |
| Balance shows zero or a token is missing | Wrong network, or the token is on a chain or custom network Rabby is not showing | Check the chain, add a custom network, see supported chains |
| "Custom RPC Error" when signing | A custom RPC URL you set is down | Disable or replace the custom RPC (details below) |
| Rabby crashes or the browser restarts when you approve | Browser-specific bug | Update the browser, or try another Chromium browser |
| Not enough gas to send | No native token on that chain | Add the native token, or use the Gas Account on supported chains |
Quick checks that fix many problems
- Update the extension. Rabby ships extension releases roughly weekly; version 0.94.13 was tagged on 23 October 2026 (Rabby GitHub). In Chrome, open
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode and click Update, or simply restart the browser. - Unlock Rabby first. Open the extension and enter your password before you click Connect on a dapp. A locked wallet can look like a missing one.
- Hard-refresh the dapp. Many wallet changes only apply to newly loaded pages. Close the tab and open the site again.
- Turn off other wallet extensions for a moment. MetaMask, Phantom, Coinbase Wallet, OKX Wallet and Brave Wallet all compete for the same connection slot in the page.
- Check the network. Rabby switches chains automatically for each dapp, but a token sent on a different chain will only show on that chain.
- Restart the browser and, for hardware wallets, reconnect the device.
Custom RPC errors
If you replaced a network's RPC address in Rabby (Settings, then Modify RPC URL), and that server goes down, Rabby shows a Custom RPC Error box when you sign. Its text says: Your custom RPC is unavailable now. You can disable it and continue signing using Rabby's official RPC, with a Disable Custom RPC button (Rabby extension source, v0.94.13, October 2026). Disabling it is safe: it only changes which server relays your transaction. Custom RPCs are also not supported with some features, such as Rabby's free-gas offers.
Crashes and browser bugs
Rabby officially runs on Chromium browsers: Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera and similar. Some browsers have had their own bugs: in October 2024 a Vivaldi user reported the browser restarting when approving Rabby transactions, and Vivaldi staff could not give a timeline for a fix (Vivaldi forum, 2024). If Rabby misbehaves in one browser, try it in Chrome or Brave with the same wallet (a hardware wallet, or the seed phrase restored on a clean profile) before assuming the wallet is broken.
When to reinstall, and when not to
Reinstalling deletes the wallet data on that browser. You can only get your addresses back with the seed phrase or private keys (hardware wallet addresses come back by reconnecting the device). Before you remove anything, confirm your backup using our seed phrase backup guide. If you do not have your seed phrase, do not reinstall: move your funds to a wallet you control while Rabby still unlocks.
Getting help safely
Inside the extension, Rabby offers a feedback option and a direct-message channel described as "Chat with Rabby Wallet Official on DeBank" (Rabby extension source, October 2026). Use those, or reach the team through rabby.io, typed into the address bar yourself. Ignore anyone who contacts you first, asks for your seed phrase or private key, sends you a "sync" or "validate" link, or asks you to install remote-access software.
Frequently asked questions
Why did Rabby stop working after an update?
Usually it has not. A browser or extension update can reset which wallet a page uses, so refresh the dapp and check that Rabby is the default wallet. If the problem started with a browser update, try another Chromium browser.
Will reinstalling Rabby fix it?
Sometimes, but it deletes your wallet from that browser. Only reinstall once you have your seed phrase or private keys. Hardware wallet addresses come back when you reconnect the device.
Is my money gone if Rabby won't open?
No. Your funds are on the blockchain, not in the extension. With your seed phrase you can restore the same addresses in a fresh Rabby install or another EVM wallet.
Does Rabby support Firefox?
There is no official Firefox add-on as of October 2026, and Rabby-branded Firefox add-ons have been fakes that stole funds. Use Chrome, Brave, Edge or another Chromium browser.
Someone from Rabby support messaged me. Is that real?
No. Rabby support does not message first and never asks for a seed phrase. Block and report the account.
