Rabby Wallet review (October 2026)
Rabby is one of the strongest self-custody wallets for people who use DeFi on Ethereum and other EVM chains, thanks to transaction simulation, risk warnings, automatic network switching and broad hardware-wallet support. Its main limits are that it is EVM-only, has no Firefox version, charges 0.25% on its built-in swap and bridge, and its 2025 audits left some findings unresolved.
Verdict
If you spend time in DeFi across several EVM networks, Rabby is a better daily driver than most alternatives. The pre-sign balance preview catches many mistakes and drainer tricks, the approvals manager makes cleanup easy, and network switching just works. If you want one wallet for Bitcoin, Solana and Ethereum, or you use Firefox, look elsewhere. We are independent and earn nothing from Rabby or its rivals.

Installing and setting up
Setup takes a few minutes: install from the official store, create a password, then create a new wallet or import a seed phrase, private key or hardware wallet. Importing from MetaMask is simple because both use the same seed-phrase standard. The biggest risk at this stage is installing a fake. Many search results for "Rabby download" are scam pages, so use the identifiers in our download guide and the extension verifier. Step by step: set up Rabby and import from MetaMask.
Daily use
Signing and simulation
The signing pop-up is Rabby's best feature. Each transaction shows the expected token changes, the contract you are talking to and any risk flags. Approvals show the spender and the amount. In our experience this is much clearer than a raw hex blob. The limit is that simulation shows what would happen right now; a malicious contract can still behave differently later, and an approval you grant today can be abused tomorrow. Read what simulation can and cannot catch.
Networks
Rabby picks the right chain for each dapp, which removes a common source of failed transactions. Custom networks can be added by RPC, though reviewers note that custom networks get fewer features (no simulation or portfolio data in some cases). See supported chains.
Portfolio
The home screen shows tokens, NFTs and DeFi positions across chains, using DeBank's data. It is one of the better built-in portfolio views in any wallet.
Mobile
The iOS and Android apps cover sending, swapping, a dapp browser and the portfolio. You can sync accounts from the extension by QR code and turn on an optional encrypted cloud backup. App Store ratings are mixed (3.5 from about 1,300 ratings, October 2026), and hardware support on mobile is narrower. See Rabby mobile.
Fees
Rabby itself is free. You pay network gas, plus Rabby's fee if you use its built-in tools:
- Swap: 0.25%, included in the quote (Rabby, July 2024). Wrapping or unwrapping the native token, stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps and native-to-liquid-staking-token swaps are free.
- Bridge: 0.25%, included in the quote, plus the bridge's own costs.
- Large trades: since late August 2026, 0.12% for a single trade worth 100,000 to 1 million US dollars and 0% from 1 million US dollars (Rabby wallet code, October 2026).
- Gas Account: Rabby says it adds no extra fee; you pay the estimated gas and the cost of sending gas tokens to your address.
- Perps: Hyperliquid's trading fees apply, plus a 0.04% Rabby fee shown in the extension (Rabby extension and CryptoSlate, October 2026).
For comparison, Rabby's own fee pop-up lists MetaMask at 0.875% and Phantom at 0.85%. You can avoid wallet fees entirely by swapping directly on a dapp. Work out a real cost with our gas and swap cost estimator or read Rabby swap fees.
Security and track record
Rabby's security story has three parts. First, the code is public and audited repeatedly: SlowMist has audited the extension several times since 2022 (most recently in August 2026), and Least Authority has reviewed the mobile app and the extension since 2024 (most recently in October 2026). Second, some findings were left open, including the mobile app's password key derivation, which the auditors considered too weak. Third, Rabby had one serious incident: in October 2022 its swap contract was exploited about a month after launch, and users had to revoke approvals. In August 2026 Rabby also fixed a bug that could let a connected malicious site obtain a signature silently under specific settings; no exploitation was reported. No breach of the wallet's key storage has been reported. Full detail: is Rabby Wallet safe? and the Rabby security history.
The biggest practical risk is not the wallet itself but impersonation: fake App Store apps (February 2024), fake Firefox add-ons (2026) and hundreds of fake download pages. See fake Rabby wallet scams.
The desktop app
Rabby Desktop for macOS and Windows was a separate app with its own built-in browser. Rabby announced on 12 December 2025 that the desktop backend would shut down on 31 December 2025, after which the app would stop working, and asked users to move to the extension. It said a new desktop version was planned. As of 25 October 2026 we could not confirm a new release, although some review sites still list the desktop app. See Rabby Desktop status.
What we would like to see improved
- Close the open audit findings. The weak key-derivation setting on mobile was flagged in 2024 and again in 2025. Moving to a stronger, memory-hard function would raise the bar for anyone who steals an encrypted backup.
- Clearer licensing for mobile. A licence file in the mobile repository would make the "open source" claim cleaner.
- A firm desktop plan. Users who relied on Rabby Desktop were given about three weeks' notice in December 2025 and no date for its replacement.
- More help against impersonation. Rabby's official identifiers are not easy to find from search, which helps scam pages rank. A prominent verification page on rabby.io would help users.
- Fee transparency in one place. Swap, bridge, discount tiers, Gas Account and perps fees are spread across announcements and in-app tips; a single public fee page would make comparisons easier.
How we reviewed Rabby
We checked the official store listings, Rabby's public code and release notes, the published audit reports and news coverage of incidents, as of 25 October 2026. We have no commercial relationship with Rabby, DeBank or any competitor, use no affiliate or referral links, and did not receive anything for this review. Facts that change often, such as user counts and ratings, are dated.

| Strong multi-chain portfolio view | Heavily impersonated, so downloading safely takes care |
| Extension code MIT-licensed | Mobile hardware support narrower than the extension |
Who should use Rabby
- Choose Rabby if you use DeFi on Ethereum and Layer 2s, you want to see what a transaction does before signing, or you want a better interface for a Ledger, Trezor or Keystone.
- Look elsewhere if you need Bitcoin or Solana in the same wallet, you use Firefox, or you only buy and hold and rarely sign anything.
Alternatives
MetaMask is the closest like-for-like option and supports more ecosystems. Rainbow and Zerion focus on a polished mobile and portfolio experience. Phantom and Trust Wallet cover Solana and many non-EVM chains. Frame is a desktop-first option for hardware-wallet users. Frequently asked questions
Is Rabby Wallet good for beginners?
It is usable for beginners and its warnings help, but it is designed for DeFi users. Beginners should first learn how seed phrases and approvals work and start with small amounts.
Is Rabby better than MetaMask?
For EVM DeFi, many users prefer Rabby for its transaction preview, network switching and lower built-in swap fee. MetaMask is better if you need Firefox or non-EVM assets. Neither is better for everyone.
What does Rabby cost?
The wallet is free. You pay network gas, and Rabby takes 0.25% on most built-in swaps and bridges, with no fee on stablecoin pairs and wraps. Swapping directly on a dapp avoids Rabby's fee.
Has Rabby Wallet been hacked?
The Rabby Swap contract was exploited in October 2022, about a month after launch, and users who had used it were told to revoke approvals. No breach of the wallet's key storage has been reported. Most losses since have come from fake Rabby apps and phishing.
Does Rabby have a desktop app in 2026?
The original Rabby Desktop stopped working after 31 December 2025. Rabby said a new version is planned, but as of October 2026 we could not confirm a release. Use the browser extension on a computer.
