How to set up Rabby Wallet safely
Install Rabby only from rabby.io or the store listing it links to, then check the extension ID. Create a new seed phrase, set a strong password, write the 12 words on paper and confirm them. After that you can pin the extension and connect it to your first dapp.
Quick steps
- Get the real Rabby. Type rabby.io yourself, follow its link to the browser store and install the extension. Check that the extension ID is acmacodkjbdgmoleebolmdjonilkdbch.
- Create a new seed phrase. Open Rabby from the toolbar and choose the option to create a new address with a new seed phrase.
- Set a password. Choose a long, unique password. It only unlocks Rabby on this device and cannot be reset by Rabby.
- Write down the 12 words. Copy the seed phrase onto paper in order, check it twice, store it safely and confirm the backup in Rabby.
- Choose addresses. Pick the addresses you want to show. The first address is enough to start, and it works on every supported EVM chain.
- Pin and fund. Pin Rabby to the toolbar, copy your address and send a small test amount before larger transfers.
- Connect and read the preview. Connect to a dapp and read Rabby's simulated balance changes and warnings before signing anything.
This guide covers a fresh setup of the Rabby browser extension, with notes for the mobile app. If you already use MetaMask, read how to move from MetaMask to Rabby instead. If you will use a Ledger or Trezor, set it up with the Ledger guide or the Trezor guide, because then there is no Rabby seed phrase at all.
Before you start
- A Chromium browser. The extension runs in Chrome, Brave, Edge and other Chromium browsers. There is no official Firefox add-on as of October 2026, and Rabby-branded Firefox add-ons have been fakes.
- Paper and pen. You will write down a 12-word recovery phrase. Do not take a screenshot or paste it into notes or cloud storage.
- Ten quiet minutes. Do the setup somewhere private, not on a shared screen or a video call.
Step 1: get the real Rabby
Fake Rabby sites, ads and store listings are common and often rank above the real site in search. Type rabby.io into the address bar yourself, or use a bookmark, and follow its link to the browser store. The official Chrome Web Store extension ID is acmacodkjbdgmoleebolmdjonilkdbch. After installing, you can confirm the ID with our extension verifier. The full download hub, including the mobile apps, is at download Rabby Wallet safely.
Step 2: create a new wallet
Open Rabby from the browser toolbar. The first screen offers two paths: create a new address or use one you already have. Choose the option to create a new seed phrase. Rabby then asks you to set a password.
The password only unlocks Rabby on this device. It encrypts your keys locally, and Rabby cannot reset it for you (Trezor's Rabby guide, 2026). If you forget it, you restore the wallet from the seed phrase. Use a long, unique password and keep it in a password manager.
Step 3: back up the seed phrase
Rabby shows a 12-word seed phrase. These words are the wallet. Anyone who has them can take everything, on any device, without your password.
- Write the words in order on paper. Check each word twice.
- Store the paper somewhere safe from fire, water and other people. Many users keep two copies in two places.
- Confirm the backup when Rabby asks.
Rabby never asks for your seed phrase after setup, and Rabby support never messages you first. Any site, form, "support agent" or "wallet sync" page that asks for the words is a scam. See seed phrase backup for storage options and fake Rabby scams for the common tricks.
Step 4: choose your addresses
One seed phrase can create many addresses. Rabby lets you choose which ones to show. Most people start with the first address and add more later from the address list. Every address works on all EVM chains Rabby supports, so you do not need a separate address for Arbitrum, Base or BNB Chain.
Step 5: pin the extension and look around
Pin Rabby to the toolbar so you can see when it asks for a signature. The home screen shows your balance across chains, built from DeBank portfolio data. From here you can receive (copy your address), send, swap and bridge. Swaps and bridges carry a Rabby service fee on top of network gas; see Rabby swap fees.
To fund the wallet, copy your address and send a small test amount first from an exchange or another wallet. Check the first and last characters of the address on both screens, because address-poisoning scams rely on look-alike addresses. The address checker can help.
Step 6: connect to your first dapp
Open a dapp and click its connect button. If you also have MetaMask installed, Rabby can answer instead of MetaMask; it has a setting for which wallet responds to sites. If a dapp does not see Rabby, read Rabby not showing in a dapp.
Before you sign anything, read Rabby's pre-sign screen. It simulates the transaction and shows the expected balance changes, plus risk warnings for things like unknown contracts or unlimited approvals. More on this in transaction simulation. If the preview shows assets leaving that you did not expect, reject it.
Setting up the mobile app
Rabby's iOS and Android apps follow a similar flow. Install from the App Store (app ID id6474381673) or Google Play (package com.debank.rabbymobile) using the links on rabby.io. Both listings are named "Rabby Wallet - Crypto & EVM". Rabby's App Store release notes from June 2026 describe a simplified wallet creation with biometric verification. The mobile app can also save a password-encrypted backup to iCloud or Google Drive (CryptoSlate, 2026). That is optional; a paper backup of the seed phrase is still the most robust option. See Rabby mobile for details.
Safety checklist after setup
- Seed phrase on paper, never typed into a website or chat.
- Extension ID matches the official one.
- Browser and Rabby kept up to date.
- Large balances on a hardware wallet; see supported hardware wallets.
- Old approvals reviewed now and then; see revoke approvals.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rabby Wallet free to set up?
Yes. Installing and creating a wallet is free. You pay network gas when you send transactions, and Rabby charges a service fee on its built-in swaps and bridges.
How many words is a Rabby seed phrase?
A seed phrase created in Rabby has 12 words. Rabby can also import existing 12 or 24 word phrases from other wallets.
Can I reset my Rabby password?
No. The password is stored only on your device and Rabby cannot reset it. If you forget it, reinstall Rabby and restore the wallet from your seed phrase.
Do I need a different address for each chain?
No. One EVM address works on Ethereum and all EVM chains Rabby supports. Make sure you send assets on a network Rabby supports or add it as a custom network.
Can I use Rabby in Firefox or Safari?
Not as of October 2026. The extension is for Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Brave and Edge. Rabby-branded Firefox add-ons have been fakes.
Will Rabby ever ask for my seed phrase?
Only when you choose to import or restore a wallet yourself. Rabby, its support team and any genuine site will never ask you to send it.
