Rabby Gas Account explained: pay gas from one stablecoin balance

GasAccount is an optional Rabby feature that lets you pay network gas on many EVM chains from one prepaid US-dollar balance, funded mainly with USDC or USDT. When you sign, Rabby sends the gas your transaction needs to your address and then submits it. Rabby says it adds no extra fee: you pay the gas plus the small gas cost of delivering it.

Running out of ETH on Arbitrum, or holding tokens on Base but no gas to move them, is one of the most common problems in multi-chain wallets. Rabby's answer is GasAccount: a single balance in US dollars that can pay gas for any of your addresses on the chains it supports. Rabby announced it on 9 September 2024 (Rabby on X, September 2024) and has expanded it since.

This page explains how it works, what it really costs, its limits as of October 2026 and the risks. We are independent and not part of Rabby or DeBank.

How GasAccount works

Rabby describes GasAccount as "a new way to pay gas fees. Instead of using native tokens on each chain, you can use one account to cover gas for all your addresses on all chains" (Rabby extension, October 2026). In practice:

  1. You log in to GasAccount by choosing one of your addresses and signing a text message. That address becomes your GasAccount login.
  2. You deposit stablecoins. The balance is shown in US dollars.
  3. When you sign a transaction and do not have enough native gas, the signing screen offers an option to use your GasAccount instead of the chain's native token. You can switch between the two each time.
  4. Rabby estimates the maximum gas the transaction can use, sends that amount of the native token to your address, and then submits your transaction (Rabby on X, September 2024).

The transaction itself is still an ordinary on-chain transaction signed by your own key. GasAccount only tops up the gas. Rabby says it "requires no contract approvals or permissions. You deposit to Rabby's GasAccount address, and Rabby sends gas to your address when needed" (Rabby extension, October 2026).

Deposits: what you can add and where

  • Tokens: Rabby's in-app text says "Deposit USDC / USDT". In the October 2026 version, the deposit screen can also route some other tokens through a bridge service; Rabby warns that this route "may have slippage" (Rabby extension, October 2026).
  • Direct deposit chains: Rabby's source code lists direct deposit addresses on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon and Avalanche (Rabby source code, release 0.94.13, 23 October 2026). Deposits from other chains go through the bridge route.
  • Card payments on mobile: since 25 March 2025 you can top up with Apple Pay or Google Pay in Rabby Mobile (Rabby on X, March 2025). Card-funded balances cannot be withdrawn (see below).
  • Amounts: in the October 2026 extension code, a single deposit must be at least 1 USD (the minimum can be set higher by Rabby's servers) and at most 500 USD.
  • Multisig: Rabby's in-app message says "Multisig addresses are not supported for deposits."

Which chains GasAccount covers

Rabby's in-app benefit card says "Automatic gas payments on 80+ networks" (Rabby extension, October 2026). Rabby does not publish a fixed list, and some chains are excluded: if you try, the signing screen shows "This chain is not supported by GasAccount". Check on the signing screen before you rely on it for a specific chain.

It also does not work in some setups. Rabby's interface shows that GasAccount is "Not supported when using custom RPC" and that "WalletConnect is not supported by GasAccount". If an address is flagged as risky, Rabby disables the feature for it. See Rabby supported chains for the wider picture.

Fees and real costs

Rabby says: "Rabby Wallet charges no extra fees. You only pay the gas for your transaction and a small amount of gas for sending that gas from GasAccount to your address" (Rabby extension, October 2026; same wording on Rabby's X account, September 2024).

So each GasAccount payment has two parts, which the signing screen shows separately:

PartWhat it is
Gas sent to your addressThe maximum estimated gas for your transaction. Any unused gas stays in your address as native tokens; it does not go back to your GasAccount.
Delivery gasThe network fee for Rabby's transfer of the gas to you. On cheap layer-2 chains this is usually tiny; on Ethereum mainnet it can be noticeable.

Because Rabby sends the maximum estimate, your GasAccount is debited more than the transaction actually burns, but the difference ends up in your wallet as native tokens, so it is not lost (CryptoSlate, October 2026). Deposits through the bridge route may also lose a little to slippage. To estimate gas for a given transaction, try our gas cost estimator.

Older articles describe a separate 2024 "gas top-up" feature with a 20% service fee (CoinGecko Learn, March 2024). That is not GasAccount; do not confuse the two when reading 2024 guides.

Withdrawals and limits

  • Rabby says token deposits can be withdrawn. In the October 2026 extension, a withdrawal goes to your DeBank L2 Wallet; you log in there to move the funds to a supported blockchain. Gas fees are deducted from the amount you receive.
  • If your balance includes Apple Pay or Google Pay funds, Rabby shows: "Withdrawals are disabled because your balance includes fiat funds, which cannot be withdrawn. Contact support to withdraw your token balance."
  • Rabby applies risk-control limits: the withdrawal limit can depend on how much was deposited from a given chain or address.
  • When your balance falls below 1 USD, Rabby warns that you do not have enough gas.

Treat GasAccount as a small prepaid fuel card, not a place to store savings.

Risks and trade-offs

  • It is a balance held by Rabby, not in your wallet. Your GasAccount deposit sits at an address controlled by Rabby and DeBank. If their service stopped or was compromised, that balance could be at risk. Your wallet keys and other funds are not affected.
  • Withdrawals are not instant to any chain. They go via DeBank L2 Wallet and can be limited.
  • Login signatures. Logging in only asks you to sign a text message. A real GasAccount login never asks for your seed phrase or a token approval. If a site asks for either while promising "free gas", it is a scam.
  • Fake "gas refund" or "Rabby gas claim" sites exist alongside fake airdrop pages. Only use GasAccount inside the Rabby app you installed. See fake Rabby wallet scams and check your extension with our Rabby extension checker.

Is it worth using?

Good forLess useful for
Rescuing tokens on a chain where you hold no gasHeavy Ethereum mainnet use, where delivery gas adds up
Hardware-wallet and many-address users who are tired of funding gas everywhereCustom RPC users and WalletConnect sessions (not supported)
Occasional use on many layer-2 chainsLarge balances (500 USD deposit cap, withdrawal limits)

If you only use one or two chains, keeping a little native gas on each is simpler and keeps everything in your own custody. For stuck transactions caused by low gas, see Rabby transaction stuck or pending.

Frequently asked questions

Does Rabby charge a fee for GasAccount?

Rabby says it charges no extra fee. You pay the gas for your transaction plus the small network fee for sending that gas from GasAccount to your address (Rabby, October 2026).

Which tokens can I deposit into GasAccount?

Rabby's in-app text says USDC and USDT. The deposit screen can route some other tokens through a bridge, which may have slippage. On mobile you can also pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Can I withdraw my GasAccount balance?

Token deposits can be withdrawn to your DeBank L2 Wallet, subject to risk-control limits. Balances that include Apple Pay or Google Pay funds cannot be withdrawn without contacting support.

Is there a deposit limit?

In the October 2026 extension each deposit must be between 1 USD and 500 USD. Rabby can change these limits.

Does GasAccount work with a hardware wallet?

Yes, but you must sign with the hardware wallet to log in and to use it. It does not work over WalletConnect or with a custom RPC.

Is GasAccount safe?

It needs no token approvals, but the balance is held by Rabby and DeBank, not in your own wallet. Keep it small and never enter your seed phrase on any site offering free gas.
