Forgot your Rabby password? What you can and cannot do

Rabby cannot recover or reset your password: it is stored nowhere except as the key to your encrypted wallet on that device. Use Forgot Password? on the unlock screen to reset Rabby, then restore your addresses with your seed phrase or private keys. Without a backup, no one can help, including paid recovery services.

Quick steps

  1. Try to recover the password. Check your password manager and saved passwords, and try variations, before resetting anything.
  2. Find your seed phrase or private keys. Make sure you have the written seed phrase or private key for every address in Rabby before you reset.
  3. Start the reset. On Rabby's unlock screen, click Forgot Password?, then follow the reset process and type RESET to confirm.
  4. Set a new password. Create a new, strong password and store it in a password manager.
  5. Restore your addresses. Import each seed phrase and private key again. Hardware, Safe and watch-only addresses are kept.
  6. Ignore recovery offers. Do not contact or pay wallet recovery services, and never share your seed phrase with anyone.

Your Rabby password is not an account password. There is no Rabby account and no server that knows it. The password encrypts your seed phrase and private keys on this one device. That is why nobody can send you a reset link, and why the seed phrase, not the password, is what really controls your funds.

Rabby says this itself on its Forgot Password screen: Rabby Wallet doesn't store your password and can't help you retrieve it. Reset your wallet to set up a new one. (Rabby extension source, v0.94.13, October 2026).

First: try to remember it

  • Check your password manager, browser saved passwords and any notes where you keep passwords.
  • Try variations of passwords you use: capital letters, a number or symbol at the end, an older version.
  • Check the keyboard layout and Caps Lock. A wrong attempt shows incorrect password.
  • If you use Rabby on more than one device (for example the extension and the mobile app), each has its own password. You may remember the other one, and you can back up your seed phrase from there.

Reset Rabby and restore with your seed phrase

If you have your seed phrase or private keys, the fix is simple. The extension's unlock screen has a Forgot Password? link that leads to a reset flow. Before you confirm, Rabby lists what will happen (Rabby extension source, October 2026):

Deleted and unrecoverableKept
Seed phrases stored in RabbyImported hardware wallets
Private keys stored in RabbyWhitelist settings
Signature records
Imported Safe wallets
Contacts and watch-only addresses

You confirm by typing RESET into a box. Rabby then asks you to create a new password. After that, import each seed phrase and private key you had, and the same addresses with the same balances reappear, because your funds live on the blockchain, not in Rabby. Hardware wallet addresses stay, since their keys were never in Rabby. The full import steps are in how to set up Rabby and seed phrase backup and restore.

If you only had hardware wallet or watch-only addresses (no seed phrase in Rabby), the reset simply lets you set a new password and keep going.

What if you have no seed phrase?

Be honest with yourself here, because this is where people lose the most money to scammers. Without the password and without the seed phrase or private keys, Rabby cannot help and nobody else can either. The keys are encrypted on your device and there is no back door. Some things are still worth checking:

  • Did the wallet come from somewhere else? If you imported it from MetaMask or another wallet, the same seed phrase may still be in that wallet, which you might still be able to unlock.
  • Is it a hardware wallet address? Then the 24-word recovery sheet that came with the device is what matters, and the funds are safe on the device.
  • Search your own records for the written seed phrase: notebooks, safes, the setup day's papers.
  • Do not reinstall or reset yet. Resetting deletes the encrypted data for good. While it exists, a remembered password still works.

If none of that works, the funds in that wallet are out of reach. It is painful, but accepting it protects you from losing more.

"Wallet recovery services" are almost always scams

Search for "Rabby forgot password" and you will find pages and social accounts offering to recover Rabby wallets for a fee or a percentage. Scammers also watch social media and forums for posts about lost access and reply with "I can help" messages. Watch for these patterns:

  • They ask for your seed phrase, private key or a copy of your browser profile "to run the recovery".
  • They ask for a fee up front, often in crypto.
  • They claim to work with Rabby, DeBank or "the blockchain". Rabby support never DMs first and never asks for your seed phrase.
  • They send a link to a "sync", "validate" or "restore" site. These are phishing sites. See fake Rabby wallet scams.

Never type a seed phrase into a website, chat or form. The only place it belongs is the import screen of a genuine wallet you installed yourself (check Rabby's extension ID with our verifier).

Avoid this next time

Write the seed phrase on paper and store it somewhere safe, apart from the device. Put the Rabby password in a password manager. Test your backup once by checking each word in Rabby's backup screen while you still have access. Our backup guide covers this step by step.

Frequently asked questions

Can Rabby support reset my password?

No. Rabby does not store your password and cannot retrieve it. The only fix is to reset Rabby on that device and restore with your seed phrase or private keys.

Will I lose my crypto if I reset Rabby?

Not if you have your seed phrase or private keys. Your funds are on the blockchain, and importing the backup brings back the same addresses. Without a backup, a reset makes the stored keys unrecoverable.

Do I need my password to see my seed phrase?

Yes. Rabby asks for the password before it shows a seed phrase or private key, so back them up while you still know the password.

I forgot my password but Rabby is still unlocked. What should I do?

Move funds to a wallet you control with a known backup, or set up a new wallet and transfer to it, before Rabby locks. Revealing the seed phrase still needs the password, and sending may too if you turned on a password check for transfers.

Can a recovery service crack my Rabby wallet?

Treat any such offer as a scam. Legitimate help never needs your seed phrase, and services that ask for fees or files to recover a wallet are a common way people lose even more.
