Rabby vs OKX Wallet: independent EVM wallet or exchange-linked multichain?

OKX Wallet suits people who want one app for 130+ chains, including Bitcoin and Solana, with a large DEX aggregator and links to the OKX exchange. Rabby suits EVM DeFi users who prefer open-source code, a wallet not tied to an exchange, a predictable 0.25% swap fee and detailed pre-sign simulation.

OKX Wallet (also called OKX Web3 Wallet) is the self-custodial wallet of the OKX exchange group. Rabby comes from DeBank, a DeFi data company, and has no exchange attached. Both are self-custodial: neither company holds your keys. Facts were checked on 25 October 2026.

OKX Wallet details are from CryptoSlate's review (updated 4 October 2026) and reporting on OKX's 2025 events.

Fees

CryptoSlate reports that OKX Wallet's swaps carry an interface fee of 0% to 0.5% on top of pool fees and slippage, with gas and bridge fees separate. The rate depends on the route, so check the quote screen each time.

Rabby charges a flat 0.25%, with 0% on stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps, wrapping and native-to-liquid-staking swaps, 0.12% for trades between $100,000 and $1 million and 0% above that (Rabby source code, October 2026). Depending on the route, OKX can be cheaper or dearer; Rabby is more predictable. To compare fairly, request a quote for the same pair and amount in both wallets and compare the amount you will receive after all fees, not the headline percentage. For stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps Rabby charges nothing, so the comparison comes down to routing quality and gas. See Rabby swap fees and Rabby bridge.

Safety

Rabby's strength is transparency: its extension code is public under the MIT licence and its audits by SlowMist and Least Authority are in its public repository (most recently August and October 2026). Before every signature it simulates balance changes, decodes approvals and permits and runs a rule-based security engine. See Rabby transaction simulation.

OKX Wallet's client code is not fully open source. It offers pre-approval scam and phishing alerts, plain-language explanations of what an approval grants and a built-in revoke tool.

Neither wallet's software has been exploited to steal keys. Rabby's 2022 incident was a flaw in its Swap contract that hit users who had approved it, and in August 2026 it fixed a signature bug that needed a 10-minute auto-lock setting, with no known exploitation; see Rabby security history. OKX's issues have been corporate and regulatory: in February 2025 its operating entity pleaded guilty in the US to running an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to pay about $505 million, and in March 2025 it suspended its DEX aggregator after about $100 million from the Bybit hack was laundered through it. CryptoSlate states that none of these events took funds from wallet users.

Both brands are impersonated. Fake wallet add-ons copying many wallets, including Rabby, appeared on Firefox Add-ons throughout 2025 and 2026. Rabby has no official Firefox add-on; check any Rabby install with our Rabby extension checker. Rabby never asks for your seed phrase.

Features

  • Chain breadth: OKX Wallet covers Bitcoin, Solana and 130+ chains. Rabby covers EVM only, but with deep coverage, custom networks and automatic network switching; see Rabby supported chains.
  • Exchange link: OKX Wallet connects easily with an OKX exchange account. Rabby has no exchange and no account to link.
  • Hardware: both support Ledger, Trezor and Keystone. Rabby adds OneKey, Lattice1, BitBox02 and more; see Rabby hardware wallets.
  • DeFi tools: Rabby has a Gas Account, an approvals manager, Safe multisig and Hyperliquid perps. OKX Wallet has a large DEX aggregator, a revoke tool and many ecosystem features.
  • Portfolio view: Rabby shows balances and DeFi positions across all your EVM chains using DeBank data, and lets you add watch-only addresses to follow other wallets. OKX Wallet shows balances across its much wider set of chains, which matters more if you hold non-EVM assets.

Using both

Many traders keep OKX Wallet for Bitcoin and Solana and use Rabby for EVM DeFi. The same seed phrase gives the same EVM addresses in both. In one browser, both extensions inject an Ethereum provider, so a dapp may open the wrong wallet; Rabby has a default-wallet setting for this, see Rabby not showing in a dapp.

Moving tokens from an OKX exchange account to Rabby is a normal withdrawal: choose an EVM network that both OKX and Rabby support, paste your Rabby address and send a small test amount first. Rabby shows tokens on any integrated EVM chain automatically. If a token does not appear, check the network, then see how to add a custom network. Never send Bitcoin or Solana to your Rabby address.
